Great Time at National Night Out in CCHTL Park

Pre-Party Prepped

2016 NNO Party in Park Success

The first Tuesday in August is when our United States celebrates National Night Out which is an organized encouragement for people to get out of their homes and meet their neighbors, their local police, firemen, and other local leaders.

The Country Club Hills/Twin Lakes Neighborhood Asssociation again celebrated a wonderful National Night Out with over 100 families coming together in the Valley Way park and many others out and about throughout the neighborhood.

Berkshire Hathaway HS Pro Realtors - Proud Sponsors

For the fourth year in a row, the agents of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty who live in the neighborhood, provided burgers and hot dogs at the Valley Way park for all comers (except for one who came just a little late and everything was gone).  Craig Kohli from Barnsbury, Bob Birkemeier from Kingswood, and Tim Parker from Valley Way donated the burgers, dogs, and fixins and cooked them!  The CCHTL Neighborhood Association provided the veggie and fruit plates and CUPCAKES (awesome) and the one-and-only Doug Adams sang for us and bribed everyone with ice-pops to sit and listen.

Everything was nice, the pace of visitors, Doug's music, the Bath Fire Department and their interactions with the kids, the weather....it was a very nice evening.

New BHHSPro Realtors Introduced

Tim, Craig, and Bob were proud to introduce to everyone their newest Berkshire Hathaway Realtors.  Deb Walters and Justin Irons were both at the Valley Way park party and, although nervous, were welcomed to the company by all of the Country Club Hills / Twin Lakes neighbors.

New Construction in CCHTL in 2016 - Corrected

Bath Township Board of Zoning Appeals is a group that reviews applications for zoning variances in Bath Township.  Their decisions are not heard or confirmed by our elected Trustees.

It was just approved by the Bath Board of Zoning Appeals to allow the construction of a new commercial building at the entrance to Country Club Hills/Twin Lakes on State Route 309.  Plans include a tri-plex retail business building and electronic signage that will replace the small office building currently occupied by Acheson Realty.

Proponents of the planned new building cited the need for an entrance to the property via Devonshire Drive in order to eliminate the dangerous left turn from 309 into the property.  With only the slightest of majority votes by this board, this was approved.

Detractors to this proposed improvement pointed to the Covenants and Restrictions in place for the neighborhood, the potential for increased traffic on the already busy Devonshire Drive, and the added dangers associated with electronic signage at an already dangerous intersection.  All concerns were considered according to a second-hand account of the hearing held by the Bath Board of Zoning Appeals.  It was made clear that this property and the proposed larger building are an improvement for the area and concerns otherwise should be tempered.

Whether you are for or against this happening in our neighborhood doesn't matter....it will happen, and could be so as early as Spring 2016.

Christmas Light Show Attracts Visitors

Visitors Cruise CCHTL to See Light Displays

We often think of going out to see the Christmas Lights to some distant location.  Many people go to the Columbus Zoo or Maria Stein or Ludlow Falls, but most of us don't think of our own neighborhood as a destination for seeing the lights.  This is changing year-by-year with even greater participation in our area Christmas Decorating Contest - Kudos to all of you!

2015 has seen over 240 homes put up displays varying in size and intensity and because of this growing participation by ourselves and our neighbors we are attracting the attention of "cruisers" through the area just to see what we have put on display.  What a wonderful thing it is for Country Club Hills and Twin Lakes to further attract attention as the "go to" neighborhood.

We are All Winners this Year

When the destination is CCHTL, desirability for the area again rises which in turn drives demand for housing because people want to become a part of our community.  It may seem a little far fetched, but it is true that by increasing participation in our Christmas Decorating Contest, we are increasing the values of our properties!

Only a few of our neighbors got plaques in their yards as recognized winners in our contest, and after driving the area and checking out the light shows, I have to agree with the choices of our Neighborhood Leadership (and I like the prizes that they awarded too):

CCHTL - Huge Walkability Scores

Walking is Good for Your Health

Go outside and take a walk!  According to various studies compiled by the British version of the AMA, taking a brisk 30 minute walk 3 or more times a week is good for your heart health and who doesn't want a healthy heart.  The term brisk doesn't mean that you have to speed walk (nobody wants to look like the Dad from Malcom in the Middle), it just means that when you go for a walk you should feel that you are pushing yourself a little bit.  Everybody will have a different pace of walking to accomplish this and that is okay.

Most of us learned how to accomplish this upright movement that places one foot in front of the other and then repeating back when we were about a year old.  We are so accomplished at this form of locomotion that you might consider us masters.  Our problem is not with the physics or coordination involved but is that of motivation to go for a walk.

The Right Place for Your Pace is Country Club Hills and Twin Lakes

Finding the right place to take a walk is really easy around here.  Our neighborhood has over 5 miles of sidewalks and is abutted by a 2 mile circumference raised reservoir on the West and a combination of 5.2 miles (figure eight pattern) when walking around the reservoirs to our East.

Walking the reservoirs and you will see joggers, trees, other walkers, fishermen, sunrises, sunsets, and lots of water.  Walking the sidewalks and you will run into many finely manicured lawns and wonderful landscapes, friendly neighbors, and many other walkers.

Today would be a great day to get out and take a walk.  For starters, I suggest the length of Fenway.  It is a simple walk with only a few crossings and measures almost exactly 1 mile.  Finish this today, add a few side streets tomorrow, and before you know it you will be traversing all 12+ of our mileage that sits just outside your doorstep.  Lets go for a walk.

Tim Parker and Craig Kohli are out there walking and Look Forward to You Stopping us Just to Say Hi

We are Tim Parker and Craig Kohli.  We live here in Country Club Hills and have a combined 54 years of living in the area.  We are both Realtors for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty and are very proud to represent both buyers and sellers, especially those in our neighborhood.
We have teamed up to offer more than any other company or agent has ever been able to offer our neighbors and are doing so because we care.  Your neighborhood is OUR neighborhood, let's continue to work together to keep it great!
